Silent Noon
11 May 09When we were asked to play a super last-minute gig in London I was excited to find out it was at Cecil Sharpe House. Cecil Sharpe is an absolute hero- he was a collector and saviour of many English musical traditions and founder of the English Folk Dance Society which to me conjures up wonderful images such as this
The building is also home to the Vaughn Williams memorial library which is so packed full of folklore I could gladly live in it for the rest of my days.
I had my first inkling that it would be a night to remember when I was told we were standing in for the Magic Numbers. It got more and more bizarre from then on in.

3 May 09We went to Paris and Grenoble to play at Les Femmes s’en Melent. We were fed so well! And the gigs were good too…

Hang on....how did this happen?
22 April 09Just got a phone call from my mother telling me excitedly that NME gave the album a glowing review! She always spots these things before I do. I rushed to the newsagents in Shipley and sure enough, they gave it 8/10. Then I came home and it actually dawned on me fully that the album is now a tangible thing…after existing in me head for a while, then on various computers and other electronic storage devices and magnetic tapes for months, it’s now a fully formed item in some rather glorious packaging.

We’re off to France tomorrow morning to play at Les Femmes s’en Malent. I have an amazing new camera which looks like this so hopefully I’ll get some nice pictures to show you.
Ruining amazing London views with rubbish phone camera.
19 April 09Was in London for a few days for a couple of gigs at the Nash Room at the ICA. There were these amazing balconies looking out onto the Mall and beyond…I felt very regal and important standing there surveying London. Then the following day was amazingly sunny so we went for a walk on Hampstead Heath. I had a vague idea there was a good view from there so we spent about an hour looking for it. Like an idiot, I forgot my camera, so I had to use my phone which is about a million years old…but you get the idea.
